Not that this has anything do to with Ingres the product or company…
Whilst working overseas has many advantages, I do however like to read the news from back home. This week it would appear that the website formerly known as http://www.theinquirer.net has morphed into a pan-european entity, through the backing of its parent company VNU publishing. This now means when i go to http://www.theinquirer.net I now get http://es.theinquirer.net. Whilst not annoying in itself since it’s nice to know I can read the same articles (albeit a day or so later) in Spanish. What I do have a problem with is the RSS feed on http://uk.theinquirer.net since it still points at www.theinquirer.net and gets mangled in to the Spanish site where the post invariably does not exist yet.
Until they fix the RSS feed I have written my first (and possibly last) greasemonkey script to redirect any requests for http://es.theinquirer.net to http://uk.theinquirer.net. Download uk.theinquirer.user.js – if you are experiencing the same problem from one of the other countries VNU translating for change es for your local site country code.
